The characters weren’t really arced in that story because it’s just a series of flashbacks in a way so we thought it would be interesting to tell that story in Scotland.' 'If we wanted to tell the whole Miami story, we realised we’d need about 10 episodes and an American partner - and it's hard to get an American partner for a British show with a British actor as the lead. 'The biggest problem we had was that most of the book is set in Miami and the Edinburgh story is a back story,' explains Irvine. If the book is set in Miami, why is the series set in Scotland?
